ARTICLE 1: WEB BASED EMPLOYEE LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Assalammualaikum and
hello everyone. On 19th November 2012, ‘Web Based Employee and
Development’ were analyzed and present by our friends, Shalini group. What can
I say, I like all the information and I get new knowledge about ‘Web Based
Employee and Development’. What I have learnt from this topic is I know how to
differentiate about concept of ‘learning’, ‘training’ and ‘development’
definition. Even look the same; actually all three of these words carry its own
meaning. We know that, learning is the act, process or experience of gaining
knowledge or skill. According to Kavanagh et al. ( 2012 ) in their book ‘Human Resources Information Systems: Basic,
Applications and Future Directions’ defined training the planned
acquisition of the knowledge, skills and abilities ( KSA ) to carry out a
specific task or job in a vocational setting. Development in an organizational
context ensures that employees possess the KSA required to fulfill future roles
in the organization ( Kavanagh et al., 2012 ).
From the presentation,
I understand about purpose of Training and Development ( T&D ) such as to
alleviate possible future skill shortages. Besides that, I can know about
training and development subsystem:
Besides that, I can
explain the system model of training and development such as:
1) Identify
training and development needs.
2) Design
training and development solutions.
3) Implement
training and development solutions.
4) Evaluate
training and development effectiveness.
The important things I
took away from the presentation activity by Shalini group are I more understand
about the applications and methods in e-learning. As we know, e-learning is
refers to any learning facilitated using electronic way. Besides that, I also
know about e-learning methods such as computer-based learning (CBL) and
multimedia-based training (MBT). UniversitiTeknologi Malaysia is one of the
universities applied e-leaning in educations environments.

One
of the important things I get from the presentation is I learn and understand
about the HRIS applications in training and development. As we know, HRIS
applications in training and development are very important to organizations
because it can record all the information that related with purpose of training
management. With HRIS applications in training and development, employee can
see their performance before training.

From
this reflection, we can know the ‘Web Based Learning and Development’ are very important
because can contribute to the organization with effectiveness and efficiency
productivity.
