ARTICLE 2: WEB BASED OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
Hello
everyone, ‘Web Based Occupational Safety and Health’ is an interesting to
discussed and analyze. Based on presentation activity (19th November 2012 and 26th November
2012 / Monday) by NurAziemahRossli and
NurulAmeraBinti Abdullah group, I can take many inputs and knowledge about web
based occupational safety and health. Generally, occupational safety and health act 1994 is very important to
organization to protect employee from accident and give awareness about safety
and health in workplace. From the presentation also I understand why companies
need effective safety and health management? This is because the
responsibilities of employers and workers to ensure that safety are maintained in
work. Besides that, the important things I took away from the presentation
activity is I understand and learn about how to implement Organizational Safety
and Health in organizations.
From
this reflection, I also can categorize and understand about element of
occupational safety and health such as:
1) Policy
2) Organizing
3) Planning
and Implementing
4) Measuring
Performance
5) Audit
6) Initial
and Periodic status review
The
explanation of occupational safety and health about policy an example is OSH is
one of the recognition of integral part of business performance. From OSH issue
also, I can analyze about the advantages of web based occupational safety and
health. From my understanding based on the presentation activity is the
advantages of using web based is organization can increases the operational
efficiencies and systematic to record the data about any accident or
organizational safety and health issue in organization.

From the figure 1 until figure 2, we know that web
based occupational safety and health can be an effective and help organization
become systematic. Besides that, according to Dessler (2011) in their book Human Resource Managementthere are three
basic causes of workplace accidents: chance occurrences, unsafe conditions, and
employees’ unsafe acts. Unsafe conditions include things like improperly
guarded equipment and hazardous procedures. Unsafe acts sometimes reflect
personality traits such as impatience and distractibility ( Dessler, 2011 ).
In conclusion, from this reflection, I very clear
and understand about the meaning and concept web based occupational safety and
health. This is important as a first step to me use this application before I
start working in organizations.
